Kaleidoscope 2014

The 12th Annual Kaleidoscope show will open on Saturday, November 29th with a Meet-the-Artists reception held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. The juried show features artists from the Alliance of Visual Artists and will run until Wednesday, December 31st. The show will be open for the First Night celebration.

Mary Urbas, Gallery Coordinator/Exhibition Curator & Installation Director at The Gallery in Lakeland Community College, and Theresa Yondo, a Ohio artist and educator were the jurors of the exhibit.

First Place went to Linda Tompkin for her acrylic work, “Creation Calls” and second place was awarded to Doreen St. John for her oil piece titled “Wet Lands.” Third place was awarded to Maryann Mosyjowski for her watercolor, ink and pastel work titled “Iris.” Honorable Mentions included “Bounty of the Sea,” an oil piece by Candace Bennington,  a digital piece, “Remnants of Days Past-Mansfield Reformatory,” by Chris Morrow, “Great Coral Drift,” a clay piece by James Leslie and “Unseen/Unheard” by Sharon Wagner made with earthenware and found objects.



There are eight free artists’ demos that will be held throughout the run of the exhibit. The list of artists’ demos is below. Registration is not required.

Saturday, December 6th
12 p.m. – From Plein Air Study to Studio with Doreen St. John (Oil)
1 p.m. – Crayon Batik with Larry Walker
2 p.m. Finding Relief! with Bill Peck (Colored Pencil)

Saturday, December 13th
12 p.m. – Thread Painting a Sparkly Garden with Connie Bloom
1 p.m. – Watercolor Painting from Edited Photos with Sally Heston
2 p.m. – Painting a Beach Scene in Pastels with Candy Bennington

Saturday, December 20th
12 p.m. – Wood Carving with Tom Baldwin
1 p.m. – Drawing & Working with Colored Chalk Pastels with Jose Sacaridiz
