Kaleidoscope 2013

The Alliance for the Visual Arts in Akron, a group representing over 500 local artists from the Akron Society of Artists, Artists of Rubber City, Cuyahoga Valley Art Center and Women’s Art League of Akron, will present Kaleidoscope 2013  in the galleries at Summit Artspace from November 15 through December 31.  The opening reception is FREE to the public and takes place on November 15th from 5-8 pm.

Members of the four groups entered artworks in all types of media for this annual juried show.  Barbara Johns chaired the exhibition committee and Carol Klingel produced the work for the invitation, as is the tradition for this exhibition.  Last year, Klingel’s painting won the People’s Choice Award and this recognition entitles the artist to create a new work for the exhibition card this year.   Klingel produced a challenging work of colored cotton thread and pigments, entitled , A Walk Through the Field.

Youngstown artist Wayne Gruver will be the juror for the juried show. Gruver is currently a working artist and the preparator of the Butler Institute of American Art’s collection.  He studied under well-known abstract expressionist artist, Alfred Bright.
