Together they chose 38 artworks of various media out of the 90 submissions.  They awarded cash prizes to first, second, and third place winners along with two honorable mentions.  The opening reception is Friday, March 3rd from 5-8 pm at the BOX Gallery.  The show will be on view until April 8, 2017.

This year’s theme was Black and White and artists were encouraged to submit work that expressed what “black and white” means to them. Whether that is old-fashioned, cut-and-dry, or maybe even race relations. Their work could be as simple as your color palette or as complex as your worldview. This created a diverse selection of work for Rogers and Brooks to choose from.

The first place prize was awarded to Winnie Daulbaugh, for her intaglio (photogravure) artwork titled WRAP, Robert Carpenter, took second place for his sculpture titled little diddy, and third place was awarded to Joseph Dick with his photograph Letting Off Steam.  Honorable mentions were given to John Sokol for his ink painting titled, Midnight in the Tall Grass and Steve Brightman for his work, When Babe Ruth was the White Josh Gibson
